SHARK FACTS

The whale shark is the largest species, reaching 13.7 m (45 ft).

The midwater shark and the pygmy ribbontail catshark the two smallest sharks,
at around 9 inches long.

The two largest sharks in the ocean (the whale shark and the basking shark) eat
some of the smallest living things in the ocean (plankton).

Sharks don't have bones! Their skeleton is made up entirely of cartaliage, the
same material that makes up the soft part of our noses.

Sharks arose about 350 million years ago and have remained virtually unchanged
for the past 70 million years.
Sharks have much more to fear from us than we do from them. If we are not
careful, we may loose these magnificent creatures from the ocean forever.
What a shark is?
Sharks that terrifies people ? Is it the gaping maw, the jagged teeth, the cold eyes? Most people think of sharks gigantic underwater man-eaters. But the truth is that only some sharks (but not all, or even most) are dangerous to humans. Sharks are fishes, and like all fishes, they have a strong, sturdy skeleton.
